Hope you are all well.  The ‘flu and COVID-19 Booster vaccination hubs have picked up a pace and I know how hard you all are working.  Hope  you are making time to look after yourselves as well.

You Screen self-sampling study – Ending on 31 December

The YouScreen North Central London Cancer Alliance study, which is running in 132 north central and north east London GP practices, will end on 31 December 2021.

Practices should note the following to help the study close in time:

  • Please make the most of the time up to the end of November to help your population to be screened
  • Kits should not be offered by GP practices after 30 November 2021
  • Please encourage patients to return their kits as soon as possible by post, using the envelope provided
  • Self-samples arriving at the laboratory after 31 December 2021 WILL NOT BE TESTED

Focus Group attendees wanted

NCL are working to design a Primary Care Flexible Staff Pool to better connect and meet the needs of our Locum workforce and our practices when pairing around flexible working. We would really value your input in designing this to ensure it meets your needs and improves locum working conditions.  We would like to hear your views on  must haves for a Digital tool to connect locums and practices as well as what support you would welcome in your role (including Induction, CPD, Mentoring).

We are looking for 5 GPs and 5 GP Nurses who locum in one or more of our 5 NCL boroughs – Barnet, Camden, Haringey, Enfield & Islington –  to attend one of the following sessions to help shape this work:

  • Wed 3rd November 10-11:45am (via MS Teams)
  • Thursday 4th November 2-3:45pm (Laycock Street, N1 1TH)

You will be remunerated for your time, including travel time where attending in person.

Level 3 Child Protection Training on Safeguarding Adolescents

Dear Barnet Primary Care Nurses:-

Please join us for Level 3 child protection training (certificates provided) on Safeguarding Adolescents

This training will be led by Sarah Marshall and Christopher Kelly who work with vulnerable adolescents in the local authority.

Training will be held on 11th of November from 1-2pm via Teams. 

Please pass this on to your colleagues in your practices

We are looking for a part time practice nurse who can do the following. Smears, Baby imms, Travel imms. LDs, Smoking cessations. CMC. LTC.

And finally… please join me in wishing Ekene Taylor the best of luck as she leaves Barnet to take up a new role.  Ekene has been instrumental in taking the virtual group consultation work forward in the local PCN.  She has also served as the Nurse Representative on the local LMC committee.  “Thank You Ekene “and we hope that you achieve great success in your career going forward.
